Hawks, Hornets trying to move on up; plus Steve Nash’s shot at L.A.
Chris Paul (photo. Zach Wolfe)While Miami waits for Lamar Odom to decide if he’d rather look at sun-dipped Rodeo Drive honeys or sun-dipped South Beach honeys during timeouts for the next 4-5 years, another possible Plan B in case they don’t get Odom became unavailable. The Hawks re-signed Marvin Williams for $40 million over five years — kind of steep for a guy who wasn’t gonna get $8M a year from anyone else, but not the worst move in the world considering Marvin is a big contributor for a sti

'Surprise, It's Not My Birthday' at Arirang
This entry originally took place on July 22. I'll be in Virginia from today until August 2, which...you probably wouldn't even notice anyway because I have enough trouble trying to update this blog twice a week even when I'm not on vacation. Sigh. But if I seem less responsive than usual, that's the reason. Cake! Three candles! WIN! "Huh?" As I stood in the back dining room of Arirang, I stared at the bounty before me: a chocolate frosted cake pipped with the words "Manatees "It

A Word About Reggie Fleming
In terms of NHL news, it was a pretty quiet three weeks while I was away. August is usually the slowest month, and I suspect it will really drag on this summer. One big piece news came out while I was away and I would be remiss not to comment on it.Reggie Fleming passed away after a hard battle with a debilitating stroke. He was 73. Fleming's life after the stroke became something of a YouTube legend thanks to Fleming's film maker son Chris. He posted 8 heart breaking interviews with his dad onli

Nikon Announces D300s: Adds 720p HD Video, $1800
Nikon has announced the D300s, which adds this year’s must-have feature, high definition video, to the Nikon D300. There are some other tweaks and changes, but for the most part this is a refreshed D300, which isn’t exactly a bad thing, given there wasn’t much wrong with the D300. Still, I suspect there will be a few complaints about not moving forward with the resolution, but it’s doubtful that a bump to 15 megapixels would provide any real tangible advantages, see comparisons with the Canon E
